Shadae Lamar Smith

Shadae Lamar Smith is an American-British filmmaker whose heritage is set in the hills  of St.Catherine, Jamaica. Raised in Miami, Shadae was accepted to the Dance Theatre of Harlem school where he studied ballet, and the  Broadway Theatre Project with a focus on musical theatre.  He went on to receive a B.A. in theatre performance from Fordham and his  M.F.A  in Film Directing and Production from UCLA.

As Creative Director for Grammy Award winning  artist and entrepreneur will.i.am, Shadae directed numerous music videos for the iconic musician, as well as spots and for his brand i.am+. Additional directing credits include videos for  The Black Eyed Peas, Nicole Scherzinger, Slick Rick, India Love, Lady Leshur, Ms.  Banks, and Lioness.  

His film work includes the shorts The Resort, shot on location in Tobago, and Miss Famous (executive produced by James Franco and starring Kristen Wiig, Jimmy Kimmel and Tony Cox), both of which were screened at multiple film festivals. He is currently in development for his feature film debut, Throw It Back And  Make It Clap For Trudy Jones, produced by Paul Feig and Tiffany Haddish.
